2024 Lights of Hope

Donate

Eight years ago, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer at the age of 26. To say it was life-changing would be an understatement.

Two weeks following my total thyroidectomy, I began volunteering with Memphis Young Professionals Against Cancer through the American Cancer Society as a way to cope with my diagnosis and treatment. My involvement ultimately turned into further volunteering with Relay for Life Memphis as the event's Advocacy Chair, and that's where I found my calling to advocate for cancer patients' and survivors' rights through the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network. I served as the District 9 ACT Lead for TN for 5 years, and for the past two years, I have served as the State Lead Ambassador for the state of Tennessee.

Because of this, ACS CAN has given me and other volunteers a powerful tool: the ability to honor and remember our loved ones touched by cancer by participating in the 13th annual Lights of Hope. This event is ACS CAN’s signature fundraiser dedicated to honoring those who have been impacted by cancer and remembering those lost.

Do you know a survivor, someone in treatment, someone who passed from cancer, or someone who served as a caregiver? Honor them by dedicating a Light of Hope and help us send a visible reminder to Congress that they need to make fighting cancer a legislative priority.
